Before publishing "Loading Images With the 'Blur Down' Technique", I spent some time exploring an idea: what if I could recreate the "Philips Ambilight" effect for images on my blog?

I didn't end up using the effect – I explain why in the article – but I've been itching to share a real example ever since.
